I really enjoyed working Jay Jay along side Nick Gregory on the Hamptworth Estate this sunday. He was working his 2 year old cocker, smallest cocker i ever did see and a little cracker :))
There was a lot of pheasants running in front of us so excitement level was high for Jay Jay as her and the pocket rocket pushed them forward.
Being so clever, as one is, I had forgot my waterproofs, so by the end of the morning i had trousers that looked as if I had wadded into a lake and had stopped just at the crutch line, fantastic, and a trend that I am sure will catch on :)
Still I must admit, it was not noticed by me until we had fininshed, as I was so pleased to be working Jay Jay on game, something the poor sweetheart just hasn't had for such a long time.
Most of the time Jay jay worked very well and tight, though pulling forward at other times, she was forgetting at those points that we were a team and was doing it all for herself.
Because the game was running in front of us Jay Jay only had 4 flushes, all of which she stopped on, but only one was a perfect and good sound stop.
You truly cannot beat working your dog on game, and jay babe is passionate about what she does all of the time, so give her game and well, that girl shines (biased owner he he he) though she shone a bit to much, if you know what I mean. No run offs or anything like that, she just wasn't as clean as Nick and I know she can. Nick said that I could sort that in 2 weeks, and I shall certainly try to find the game to do so ...............
....................... and guess what? we have, yipeeee!
A very kind keeper of a very big shoot has given us permission to use his land, and from all accounts Mama Mia will be the one needed on that shoot, so we take just Jay Jay the first time and from then on both Mama Mia and Jay babe can come with us to make sure we do a good job for the shoot.
The Down, well that is having to miss out on a partridge day tomorrow, ha ho can't have everything in life!
